Chanel Unveils New Margot Robbie-Fronted Perfume Campaign

It’s been a busy summer for Margot Robbie. Between the success of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and two hotly-anticipated upcoming films—the new Harley Quinn feature, Birds of Prey, and Bombshell, about the fall of Fox News’s Roger Ailes—plus the announcement in July of her new ambassador status for Chanel, the actress has been climbing the ranks of stardom. This week, Robbie stepped into her first gig for the luxury brand, fronting the campaign for the new Gabrielle Chanel Essence fragrance, directed by British fashion photographer Nick Knight. The white-and-gold-themed colour scheme is meant to recall the “intense, solar heart” of the newest iteration of Gabrielle by Chanel.

Walmart Debuts Line of 30 Skincare Products Under $10

Billed as “clean and uncompromising”, Walmart’s new “luxury for less” skincare line contains no parabens, pthalates, mineral oil, sulfates or gluten, and also isn’t tested on animals—and, most intriguingly, is entirely priced under $10. Earth to Skin contains an antioxidant Super Fruits range, a Honey range for sensitive skin, Tea Time for brightening and Super Greens for a boost of vitamins, adding up to a total of 30 products ranging from $7 to $10 each. There’s also a four-product $10 starter kit containing mini versions from each collection. With the clean beauty category typically falling on the more costly side of the skincare spectrum, the superstore’s first-ever line of skincare products is a welcome change-up, tipping the scales in favour of accessibility and affordability.

Zendaya Stars in New Lancôme Idôle Campaign

Lancôme’s latest fragrance campaign debuted this week, starring a horseback riding Zendaya bearing their newest (and thinnest) fragrance, Idôle. Titled “I Can, We Will” and set to “Unstoppable” by Sia, the latest (and youngest) addition to the brand’s roster of ambassadors is seen riding her way through Los Angeles, eventually reaching a mountain top and triumphantly bearing the new perfume. “An idol is whatever definition that you want to make it for yourself,” the actress told WWD in an interview. “I always say my idol is my future self. I don’t know who she is yet, I haven’t met her yet, but I know she’s there and she’s waiting for me in the future.”

Bella Thorne’s Skincare Routine Has Sparked Internet Outrage

Currently, there’s an entire thread on Reddit devoted to shock and awe at some of Bella Thorne’s recently revealed skincare routine—or lack thereof. The outrage broke out this week after Harper’s Bazaar published a video of Thorne walking readers through her nighttime ritual, part of the magazine’s “Go to Bed With Me” series, in which she reveals that the answer to her acne scar-related woes came in the form of a homemade lemon, sugar and olive oil scrub. Which she applies to her face every night. Every. Night. “Honestly the 2 years of Accutane is probs why her skin is as clear as it is now,” one redditor commented. “I’m actually shocked by the amount of misinformation in that video!” writes another. The clip lasts all of 10 minutes, in which Thorne—who does not use moisturizer, serum or any other product not from her pantry—washes her face with the scrub and follows it up with another homemade product, this time a mask made of cherries, honey and coconut oil. It’s perplexing content, and has made many an onlooker worry for the state of her pores. Even more perplexing: Thorne also reveals in the video that she is currently working on a skincare line. Looks like there is more dermatological outrage to come in Bella Thorne’s future.
